Wilkerson Looking To Rebound In Topeka After Disappointment In Atlanta

Springfield, Ill (May 18, 2016) – Tim Wilkerson brings his Levi, Ray & Shoup Nitro Funny Car to the new Heartland Park Topeka for the 28th Annual 2016 NHRA Kansas Nationals.
Tim Wilkerson has yet to win at Heartland Park Topeka. He has made two final round appearances in Topeka and he is now ready to take home a win at one of his favorite tracks.
“I’m always a fan of Heartland Park Topeka. It’s a good home for the Kansas City group from Levi, Ray & Shoup so we always have a good contingency of people come out to watch and root us on,” said Wilkerson. “I’m excited to go there and hopefully we can get something done and rebound from our mistakes in Atlanta.”
In Atlanta Wilkerson made an early exit, losing in the first round of eliminations to Del Worsham. Wilkerson drove 4.064/310.48 but lost to Worsham’s 3.975/287.11.
“We had a start-switch malfunction on the thing and the clutch never started. We traced it and I think we figured it out and fixed it so we won’t have that problem again,” said Wilkerson.
Wilkerson is experiencing one of the best season starts in his career with two wins and three final round appearances in 2016. He is currently the only Nitro Funny Car driver with multiple wins this season.
Wilkerson comes into the NHRA Kansas Nationals No. 3 in the NHRA Mello Yello Championship point standings.
