The 2016 Season Is Far From Over For Wilkerson

Springfield, Illinois (October 26, 2016) – With just two races remaining in the 2016 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series, most would consider the season pretty well over. But Tim Wilkerson believes a lot can happen in just two races, starting this weekend at the NHRA Toyota Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
“Some may say it’s only two races, but that is a lot of rounds and points up for grabs,” Wilkerson said. “A win in Vegas would give us a huge boost in the Countdown to the Championship. Our goal is to get another win and make it into the Top 5 before the season is over.”
The points race is very tight for racers at the bottom half of the Countdown points standings; less than 100 points separates ninth place Wilkerson from fifth place driver and defending Funny Car Champion Del Worsham.
In the last two weeks Wilkerson and his team have been working around the clock to get the Levi, Ray & Shoup Ford Shelby Mustang ready for the trip out West.
“We spent the time off since Dallas putting together a spare car, so for the first time this season the trailer left the shop with two cars in it,” explained Wilkerson. “This team has put in so much time, heart and effort into the Levi, Ray & Shoup Mustang this year and we want to finish on a high note.”
